I did an internet search to find a support group for parents of an autistic child. I was directed to the local branch of Autisim Ontario http://www.autismontario.com/. So I connected with the coordinator of the local branch, Paula Ball and went to the next support meeting.
Made some fantastic connections with other parents of autistic children and Paula. Such great connections! I recommend doing this.
I'm excited to learn, learn and learn more about the rights of my child and what I can demand from the school he attends.
Paula went out of her way to come to our home and have an informal, information session with us. Pointing us in the right direction and helping us achieve some amount of control on this roller coaster ride. EMPOWERING!!
She suggested we fill out an IPRC request and give it to the principle of our school to get some paperwork started. I did that this morning, now I wait!
